Apple launched an entry-level model of its iMac desktop computer, which will boast a lower price and a lower-end processor.
The 21.5-inch iMac will feature a 1.4 GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor, 8 GB of memory and a 500 GB hard drive. Apple's suite of productivity apps, iWork, as well as iLife will be available for free.
The iMac will sell for $1,099. Other models of the iMac range from $1,299 to $1,999.
During Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference earlier this month, Apple CEO Tim Cook lauded the growth of its Mac line, which includes the iMac and Macbook. The install base for Macs reached 80 million, Cook said, while Mac growth is up 12%. The company is launching an updated version of its Mac operating system software, called Yosemite, later this year.
